So, Brian got the job at Citi. So we went out and got a DS. And we went out to Red Lobster with a gift card after his first day of work.

Now if only his new job didn't come with so many problems...

Randstad told him he'd be hired on as "long-term/indefinite", which we can only assume means he will never be hired on by Citi themselves. This is a bummer, because Citi supposedly has some awesome benefits and pay. I can only hope they'll consider it after several months and just didn't want to put 'temp-to-hire' because they're not definite about hiring him.

The problem with working for Randstad indefinitely is that they have terrible benefits. If I'm reading their package right, they've changed their policy to take away vacation days. Instead, employees who work full-time for a full year are eligible to receive a sort of bonus check at the end of the year that consists of 40 hours of pay. In other words, he may be able to ask for days off from Citi, but they'll remain unpaid until the end of the year, when he may or may not get paid because we couldn't quite understand how long he needed to be working there before he was even eligible to get the check at the end of a year's work.

And furthermore their benefits don't kick in until he's been working there for a year. I thought the standard was three months? Four times as long as that? Thanks a lot, you dickheads.

If all of this wasn't enough... Citi's been dicking around with him. They apparently just switched some portion of the company over to a new umbrella of administration. Like, literally, JUST switched it, the day before he was to go in to work. Maybe if they had hired him on the day they were supposed to...... he wouldn't have been told they didn't have a security badge for him yet so they would call him to tell him when he could go in to work on Wednesday. Which they never did. But thankfully they called to let him know he was due in to work today, and he's actually driving to the OTHER Citi office to pick up his security badge now.

All I can say is, I hope it gets better from here on out and they're impressed enough with him that they hire him on.

And I hope I can get artwork done when I'm not obsessing over stirring poffins just right.
